POKING MY NOSE IN ACRYLIC PAINTS

I have always believed that i do not possess even a fraction of talent for a good painter. A lot of unknown names are really so brilliant, I prefer to call them God- gifted. What i do have is the knack  to isolate  very attractive paintings by some not so known artists and get inspired by them (plain stealing). They look stunning on a drawing room wall.

This has become a good pastime though is a bit expensive hobby. I have a collection of a dozen of my hand painted large canvas paintings and after getting them framed have become a storage problem in my small apartment. I am thinking seriously of displaying them in this blog hoping someone will offer me a few lakh rupees to adorn his living room. If you cant buy even after tough negotiation then just adore my selection and brush strokes as a beginner. I now plan to take nice pics of my collection and post them here. and in future. Try your luck before its sold out.

Pop Art

Pop Art as they call it!
A little that I have learnt about this category of art is that

  • It  generally reflects  a celebrity
  • it is done with solid colors without shading
  • apparently the outlines within the painting is rather vague but when viewed in totality (preferably with squeezed eye) the overall image gives a photo finish and the impact is astounding.

Mystery Girl

During my posting in Delhi for over 4 years,  I had this wallpaper on my office PC, Out of millions of free wallpapers available on the net, somehow i got fascinated by this image. May be it was the mystery behind the mood. Is it ecstasy or melancholy. It remained on my desktop for a few years,

The i thought i should capture her same mood on my canvas once again without deciphering it. The one above is a camera photograph and the following one is my painting.

MODALISA

Monalisa by Leonardo DV is said to be the most talked about painting in the world. She is a global icon. All kinds of myths float around the the female as well as mystery behind her (sly) smile. To be honest, I was rather disappointed to see the original piece in the Paris museum more so coz i spent a good amount of money for reaching there by taxi. The 500 year old  original  didn't cast a lasting impression on my mind may be out of my artistic immaturity. But i think i am not the lone guy in this world.  When TS Eliot called Hamlet "the Mona Lisa of literature" he meant it in a negative sense: that the play was no longer seen for what it was, but had become, I still remember the name of that museum as it sounded like an obscene hindi word and such things for me are herd to forget. Like a particular model of Skoda car now available in  India,

The pic below is cropped version of the original masterpiece. Take a good look at it. Its not the one I have painted but take a good admiring look at it.

Then this painting of  modern Monalisa I came across on the net and was impressed with the idea how 20 squares together formed an image of the original masterpiece.

The Godfather:
In the blogger's description you can see Godfather as one of my favorite movies of all time. Not because  Not only its theme music remained my mobile ringtone for a few years

Kite Passion + Blue Horse

Difficult to explain what kite means to me. Kite is one of the very few passions that i had. I still dream of it.

Replica(s)

During the initial phase when my brushstrokes were not so precise, the easiest thing to do was to copy a modern painting. A few wrong strkes here and there make it look even more modern. So E Hussain tried on MF Hussain.

Incidentally its the same painting that was shown in movie Ladies and Ricky Bahel fraudulently sold by the hero to the Industrial House for 95 lacs.

                                                                                                                                       ++++++++++++

In the original Hussain the entire right portion was just a blank so i added the flute player. The two styles are distinctly identifiable. MF Hussain & E Hussain

This was the first painting i did almost a decade ago. Recently re-did the colors to look like new. Now for heaven's sake dont ask why has the fourth leg of the horse gone missing?

RAINBOW ROSE

They say when a rose is presented to someone, it signifies different sentiment depending on the color of the flower. Amongst the  prominent colors, "Red" means traditional love and romance, "Yellow" signifies "true frienship". So out of ignorance or mistake if a boy offers a bouquet of yellow roses to his lady love, and the girl is not as dumb, he had it!. Similarly "White" rose symbolises purity and is given and used in marriages. "Orange" rose denotes passion and desire whereas "Black" signifies mourning.  likewise pink and orange colors of rose too have some subtle connotation i dont remember..

I could not decide which color to pick so i used all the hues i then had on my pallet. Added some greens too - for my Rainbow Rose to signify mixed feelings..

This one is a FLOWER
A lovely painting!

MAATAM (Mourning)

While doing this one i could recall a couplet from Shaad Azimabadi (belonged to my hometown)

"Baad  Marne    ke  bhala  hoga kise gham apna
Haath qaboo men hain kar le abhi matam apna"

so I could not resist putting the second line there!
